Hello Fellow Martial Artists!

Welcome to our new home on the web. San Diego Kenpo Karate was created out of the need to show respect to long time students. This website is going to be the home of the the official records for my students. My name is John W. Zimmer, a student of the late, Great Grand Master Richard "Dick" Willett (R.I.P).

The original school (in San Diego) has continued under the leadership of Grand Master Todd McElhinney under the name of, "American Kenpo Karate, Kick Boxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu."

After achieving rank from my instructor, I bought the El Cajon, "Tracy's Karate" school from Larry McCraw in the early 1980's and eventually sold the school, then entitled, "American Kenpo Karate" to David Hays.

Our motto is borrowed from our late Great Grand Master James Masayoshi Mitose, who listed as the Kenpo Creed:

“I come to you with only open hands. Other weapons, I have not, but should right or honor require it, my hands will bear me out.”  – Kenpo Creed.

Welcome to the San Diego Kenpo Karate Dojo (SDKKD) and the San Diego Kenpo Karate Association (SDKKA) webpage/blog!
